What is Encaustic Painting?
Encaustic painting, also known as hot wax painting, involves using heated beeswax to which a small amount of Damar resin (tree sap) and coloured pigments are added.
How do you Care for Encaustic Art?
Basically, if you don’t want it to happen to you, don’t let it happen to art!
Don’t leave encaustic art in the car on a warm sunny day. Although the melting point of encaustic medium is 140F, it can get soft and move in a hot car.
Don’t leave your art in the car on a winter day because it will likely crack if it's frozen.
Don’t scratch into it, but if you like a shiny surface buff it with a soft lint free cloth about once a month. Old pantyhose work well.
If something does happen let me know as there's a lot I can fix!
